What this site records
In short
This is a personal portfolio. It sets no cookies and runs no third-party analytics or advertising. The only things stored in your browser are your theme choice (dark or light) and nothing else.
Visit statistics
To see how the site is used, the pages send a small anonymous-by-design usage record to a collector I run myself (hook.peterfarah.com). A record contains:
- the page you are on and the page that linked you here (the referrer);
- your browser's user-agent string, language, time zone and screen size;
- coarse device details the browser exposes (memory class, CPU cores, connection type);
- how far you scrolled, how long the page took to load, and the text of links you click;
- your IP address as seen by the server, which is used to derive a country and city and is not published.
The records are used only to understand which pages and projects people look at. They are not sold, shared or combined with other data. The site can be read in full without any of this: if your browser sends the Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, nothing is sent at all.
Links to other services
The Service Access Panel checks from your browser whether a few of my self-hosted services answer, so that page sends a lightweight request to each of them when it loads and when you press Re-check. Links to LinkedIn, GitHub and other sites are governed by those sites' own policies.
Questions
